The Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) is pleased to advise that the Healthcare Identifier (HI) Conformance Compliance and Accreditation (CCA) testing will be transitioned from IV&V Australia to the Agency from 1st of November 2020. Once the transition is complete, the HI CCA testing will incur no charge to software developers.

Overview

From the 1st of November 2020, the Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) will be conducting Healthcare Identifier (HI) Conformance testing.

The process to gain production access to the HI Service remains the same. Software developers are required to complete Notice of Connection testing with Services Australia before undertaking HI Conformance testing with the Agency. Software developers seeking initial assessments for their software or retesting upon upgrading to a new version or test case, will not be charged for the service.

New mandatory conformance requirement

Through the expanding use of healthcare identifiers, the Agency has implemented a new mandatory conformance requirement, i.e. “Requirement 22000 – Revalidation of an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI)”. All software developers seeking production access to the HI Service must ensure they meet this requirement. More information regarding this requirement is available on page 34 of the Use of Healthcare Identifiers in Health Software Systems Conformance Profile

If you are a software developer, who has already been through conformance testing in the past, you must implement this new conformance requirement in your software and undergo retesting. Please contact the Agency to schedule testing.

More Information

Access to HI Service will continue to require both Notice of Connection (NOC) testing with Services Australia and HI CCA assessment with the Agency. Upon gaining access to the HI Service, software developers can progress to implement various digital health functionalities such as My Health Record, Electronic Prescribing and secure messaging.
