Background
The Australian Digital Health Agency is offering healthcare software developers financial assistance to design new or enhanced My Health Record–related functionality in clinical information systems used by private specialists.
One of the goals of the Australian National Digital Health Strategy is to ensure that, by 2022, all healthcare providers will be able to contribute to and use health information in My Health Record on behalf of their patients. Although many specialists can already access the My Health Record system via clinical information systems in public and private hospitals where they may work, the Agency has a goal to significantly increase the number of specialists who access the My Health Record system when working in their private practices.
The Agency believes there is an opportunity to achieve this goal by collaborating with software developers to deliver tailored My Health Record functionality in clinical information systems used by private specialists. While the scope of this initial industry offer is limited to the development of software designs, the Agency intends to work with participating software developers to subsequently support the implementation and rollout of the enhanced functionality defined through the design exercise.
