The purpose of this document is to define the collaborations, logical Service Interfaces, Service Operations and associated logical conformance points for the Template Service Interface.

This logical service interoperability is intended to be independent of implementation of the required functionality on any particular technology platform. Such implementation detail is in the Technical Service Specification [TSS].

The Template Service enables implementers and systems to obtain standardised specifications for clinical documents to be exchanged within the Australian healthcare community. It is responsible for managing and storing the data representations associated with all of the data formats stored within a My Health Record, but can also store specifications for clinical documents not associated with a My Health Record.

The Template Service does not handle clinical information, and does not provide services to validate instances of documents created using templates obtained from the Template Service.
