Dose based prescribing medication course type reference set

This reference set contains terminology to identify different types of medication courses in vendor systems. It includes codes for ‘scheduled – priority’, ‘stat’, ‘variable dose’ and ‘when required’.

This reference set can be used:

· within implementations that contain a Medication Course data element or similar

· alongside medication terminologies, such as the AMT, to create dose based orders for patient medications

· within implementations where use-case specific reference sets for dose based prescribing are yet to be developed

· as the basis for developing further use-case specific reference sets for dose based prescribing through a process of constraint, or expanding upon.

While this reference set was developed with a focus on dose-based prescribing, it may be used for any type of prescribing (including pack-based prescribing).
