This Standards Australia handbook describes a framework for specifying and achieving interoperable e-health systems. It is intended to promote collaboration among stakeholder groups, including developers, testers, policymakers, healthcare providers and managers. The handbook presents concepts, principles and approaches to support interoperability across organisations for digital solutions such as discharge summaries, medications, referrals and clinical reports. It is intended to support interoperability between different organizational systems and does not specify a particular enterprise of solution architecture. The handbook is intended to be read in conjunction with the Standards Australia handbook SA HB 138-2013, E-health Architecture Principles.
