This standard defines the Global Document Type Identifier (GDTI), which is the GS1 identification key used to identify important paper and electronic documents by type. The GDTI consists of a GS1 Company Prefix, a Document Type, a Check Digit, and an optional serial number. Barcodes, human readable interpretations and EPC/RFID tags can be used to apply the GDTI. Further information is available in the GS1 General Specifications Standard.
