This document provides an overview of the Global Service Relation Number (GSRN) and describes some of its applications and benefits. The GSRN is an automatic identification and data capture system, implemented as a barcode. It can be used to automatically identify individual healthcare service providers and clients, and read and write service or transaction data from and to an organisation's processes and systems. The GSRN is provided by GS1 Australia.
