The Electronic Product Code (EPC) is a globally unique identifier that allows the automatic identification of objects anywhere. This standard provides machine-readable versions of EPC formats and rules for encoding and decoding (this information is provided in human-readable form in the related GS1 EPC Tag Data Standard).
This standard aims to support the automatic detection of an EPC scheme and format, and the validation of the input value and translation to an output value for a specified output format.
Main sections:
· Translation between various formats
· Structure of TDT definition files
· Encoding/Decoding of additional AIDC data after the EPC
· TDT definition files – formal definition
· Translation process
· Tag data translation software – Reference implementation
· Application programming interface
· TDT schema, TDT definition files and TDT tables
· Glossary (non-normative)
· References
· Flowcharts to assist encoding and decoding GS1 Application Identifiers (within new EPC schemes and for additional AIDC data)
