This standard establishes a normative de?nition of communication between devices containing a power source and managers (for example, cell phones, personal computers, personal health appliances, set-top boxes) in a way that enables plug-and-play interoperability.
This standard leverages work done in other ISO/IEEE 11073 standards, including existing terminology, information pro?les, application pro?le standards, and transport standards. It de?nes a common core of communication functionality of personal health devices (PHDs) containing a battery, including current device power status (for example, on mains or on battery); power charge status (for example, per cent of full charge); and estimated time remaining (for example, minutes).
Main sections:
 Scope
 Purpose

Introduction to ISO/IEEE 11073 personal health devices (PHDs)
Power status monitor concepts and modalities
Power status monitor domain information model
 PSM service model
 PSM communication model
 Test associations
 Conformance
Simple PSM Profile: Devices that can support 1-8 batteries
Advanced PSM profile: device that can support more than 8 batteries
 Annex A: (informative) Bibliography
Annex B: (normative) Any additional ASN.1 definitions
Annex C: (normative) Allocation of identifiers
