This standard establishes a normative definition of communication between devices containing a power source and managers (for example, cell phones, personal computers, personal health appliances, set-top boxes) in a way that enables plug-and-play interoperability.
This standard leverages work done in other ISO/IEEE 11073 standards, including existing terminology, information profiles, application profile standards, and transport standards. It defines a common core of communication functionality of personal health devices (PHDs) containing a battery, including current device power status (for example, on mains or on battery); power charge status (for example, per cent of full charge); and estimated time remaining (for example, minutes).
Main sections:
· Scope
· Purpose
· Normative references
· Introduction to ISO/IEEE 11073 personal health devices (PHDs)
· Power status monitor concepts and modalities
· Power status monitor domain information model
· PSM service model
· PSM communication model
· Test associations
· Conformance
· Simple PSM Profile: Devices that can support 1–8 batteries
· Advanced PSM profile: device that can support more than 8 batteries
· Annex A: (informative) Bibliography
· Annex B: (normative) Any additional ASN.1 definitions
· Annex C: (normative) Allocation of identifiers
· Annex D: (informative) Message sequence examples
· Annex E: (informative) Protocol data unit (PDU) examples
