IHE Cardiology Technical Framework Supplement – Resting ECG Workflow (REWF)

Electrocardiographs, unlike other cardiology modality devices, have traditionally used proprietary communication protocols, making device interoperability and clinical workflow very difficult. This supplementary resource introduces the Resting ECG Workflow integration profile, which specifies actors and transactions that allow users to register a patient, order a test, perform the test and interpret the test results in an interoperable way. The profile will also handle unordered tests, urgent cases and ECGs acquired in both hospital and office settings.
