This document describes the General Eye Evaluation (GEE) Profile, which defines the structure of data that is collected during a patient’s general eye examination. This examination is an evaluation of the physiological function and the anatomical status of the eye, visual system and its related structures, plus additional patient information such as history, allergies, and social history.

This revised version of the original trial implementation is based on the HL7 Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA). It adds two content profiles: the GEE C-CDA Progress Note and the GEE C-CDA Consultation Note. The profiles are based on the Comprehensive 370 Adult Medical Eye Evaluation October 2010 Preferred Practice Pattern specification generated by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
