The purpose of the Guideline Appropriate Ordering (GAO) profile is to support the communication of decision support guidance on whether an order is appropriate from electronic health record, hospital or departmental information systems. The profile allows receivers to evaluate the decision support that was used and determine the appropriateness of those orders.

This supplement to the IHE Patient Care Coordination Technical Framework updates the PCC Technical Framework Volumes 1, 2 and 3 to incorporate changes necessary to add the GAO to the framework.

Main sections:

· GAO overview

· Actors, transactions and content modules
