Outstanding requests for referrals, consultations, studies, lab tests or other services often need to be tracked or followed. These requests can be tracked using identifiers (often referred to as referral numbers or order numbers, depending upon the type of service requested).
This supplement to the IHE Patient Care Coordination Technical Framework V10.0 describes how the referral and/or order number in documentation and metadata associated with services requested by an order placer should be communicated and linked. It does not cover the process for clinical document architecture (CDA) documents.
Main sections:
· Referral/order linking (ROL) profile
· ROL actors, transactions, and content modules
· Actor options
· Required actor groupings
· ROL overview, concepts, and use cases
· Security considerations
· Cross-profile considerations
· Transactions
· Content modules
· National extensions
