This supplement to the IHE Patient Care Device Technical Framework describes the Point-of-Care Identity Management (PCIM) Profile, which specifies HL7 v2 standard messaging for devices and IT systems at an acute care point-of-care.
The PCIM profile allows for data exchange and synchronisation regarding the identity of specific devices collecting clinical information about a specific patient. The profile has two main purposes: assisting in the association of collected data with the correct patient record and maintaining a ‘census’ of devices that frequently move between patients, such as infusion pumps and mechanical ventilators.
Main sections:
· PCIM actors, transactions, content modules and use cases
· Transaction: Assert Device-Patient Association [PCD-17]
· Transaction: Assert Device-Patient Disassociation [PCD-18]
· Transaction: Query Device-Patient Associations [PCD-19]
· Transaction: Register Device [PCD-20]
· Appendix A: Proposed messages
· Content modules
· National extensions
