Integrated Care Pathways (ICPs) are long-running, orchestrated patient care plans that cross system boundaries. This white paper explores how Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) and IHE profiles may be leveraged to operationalise support for ICPs within the context of a Health Information Exchange (HIE).
The document describes an applied research effort exploring how various IHE profiles may be leveraged to support ICPs.
This document is intended primarily for those who make national-level funding decisions regarding healthcare. It will also be useful to developers, multilateral funders (or donors), health informatics thought leaders, researchers and members of standards organisations.
Main sections:
· Overview
· ICPs: HIV treatment, child immunisation, child immunisation schedule
· High-level engineering
· Detailed design
· Software architecture
· Communications architecture
· Results
