ISBT 128 and the Single European Code (SEC) v1.4.0

This document specifies the way in which the Single European Code (SEC) should be formulated and printed on tissue and cell products labelled with International Society of Blood Transfusion Standard 128 (ISBT 128). This helps to ensure that the Donation Identification Number, Product Code, Division Code, and Expiration Dates are represented consistently in the SEC when it is applied to tissues and cells. The SEC is required on all tissues and cells regulated under Directive 2004/23/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council released for circulation in the European Union unless specifically excluded in the regulation. This document also addresses specifications for software developers. It is intended as a supplement to the ISBT 128 Standard Technical Specification (ST-001).
