LOINC Knowledge Base: Enriched Linkages between LOINC terms and LOINC Parts

This document describes the enhanced model of relationships between LOINC terms and LOINC Parts that was introduced in version 2.66. These enhanced linkages are published as a LoincPartLink.csv file.

The new approach organises certain kinds of Part Types into 8 groups, each identified as a specific LinkType: Primary, DetailedModel, SyntaxEnhancement, SemanticEnhancement, Metadata, Radiology, DocumentOntology and Search. Not all LOINC terms will have all of these LinkTypes.

In the LOINC 2.68 release, the supplementary links were implemented as part of FHIR terminology services.
