This document specifies security and system management profiles to which implementations may claim conformance. Security and system management profiles are defined by reference to external protocols (such as TLS, ISCL, DHCP, and LDAP) used in a system that uses DICOM standard protocols for information interchange. The system management profiles specified support automation of the configuration management processes needed to operate a system that uses DICOM standard protocols. The document does not address security policies, but provides mechanisms that could be used to implement security policies on the interchange of DICOM objects between Application Entities.

This document is one of 22 parts to the DICOM standard.

Main sections:

- Security and system management profile outlines

- Configuration profiles
