This document outlines the minimum best-practice standards for the management and communication of high-risk pathology results by the pathology service. The pathology service is required to provide medical and scientific consultation on these results when sought, but decisions about the management of the patient are made by the managing clinician. The effective communication of these results is a shared responsibility between the laboratory staff and the attending medical team.
