SNOMED CT is a standard for data elements used in the electronic exchange of clinical information.
SNOMED CT expresses clinical ideas with expressions: structured combinations of one or more concept identifiers. This guide defines and describes a formal compositional grammar used to represent SNOMED CT expressions as a plain text string. This grammar can be both read by humans and computers.
As well as specifying the grammar, this guide presents a logical model for the grammar, discusses example expressions and describes some general implementation considerations.
Main sections:
- Use cases
- Requirements
