This resource introduces a new information object definition (IOD) and a new storage service-object pair (SOP) class for encoding and storing dermoscopic images. Dermoscopy (also known as dermatoscopy and epiluminescence microscopy) is a diagnostic technique that allows visualisation of the morphological structures of the skin. It is a non-invasive, in vivo skin examination. Dermoscopy is an important aid in the early recognition of malignant melanoma and other skin tumours but is also used for non-skin cancer disease conditions (for example, inflammatory disease).
