This resource introduces 2 new information object definitions (IODs) and 2 corresponding service-object pair (SOP) classes for encoding and storing confocal microscopy images. The IODs are intended to be applicable to all uses of confocal microscopy. The resource defines an acquisition context module specific to cutaneous confocal microscopy. Cutaneous confocal microscopy is a non-invasive imaging technique that allows examination of the skin at resolutions comparable to histology without performing biopsy. Specific modules for other uses of confocal microscopy may be added in the future.
