eSignature - Final Recommendations v1.0

This document provides guidance on appropriate mechanisms for the signing of clinical documents where the originator and the potential recipient(s) of the document are in separate and independent healthcare organisations. The document defines several suitable electronic signature options and then uses a risk-based approach to make specific recommendations in relation to the types of documents listed in the scope section below.

By operation of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (Establishing the Australian Digital Health Agency) Rule 2016, on 1 July 2016, all the assets and liabilities of NEHTA will vest in the Australian Digital Health Agency.
