This document defines a standard method of backporting the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Release 5 (R5) Subscriptions Framework. The Subscriptions Framework allows clients to request notifications when data changes and to receive active notifications as changes occur. The R5 Subscriptions Framework involved a substantial redesign from earlier releases. The backporting method enables servers running FHIR versions earlier than R5 to implement a subset of R5 subscriptions in a standardised way to support greater compatibility and adoption.
