This specification describes the requirements needed to manage terminology produced by a variety of organisations across the healthcare enterprise. It is intended to support standard terminology modules, value sets, and coding systems as well as local terms and equivalence mappings.
This document focuses on the use of a Terminology knowledge architecture (Tinkar) which creates a logical model to represent HL7 Codesets, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, and other clinical terminologies. The Tinkar Reference Model is a logical model that describes the standardised model for terminology and change management. Tinkar provides an architecture that delivers integrated terminology to the enterprise and its information systems. In doing so, it addresses the differences in management and structure across reference terminology, local concepts, and code lists/value sets.
Main sections:
· Tinkar overview
· Business requirements
· Tinkar reference model
· Example implementation of Tinkar
· Next steps
· Key takeaways
· Tinkar model concepts
