The ebXML Message Service (ebMS), developed by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), defines the message enveloping and header document schema used to transfer ebXML messages over a communications protocol such as TCP/IP, HTTP or SMTP and the behaviour of software sending and receiving ebXML messages. This standard describes a specific implementation of the ebMS, as described in Message Service Specification Version 2.0 1 April 2002.
