This document is part of the SMART Web Messaging Implementation Guide based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Release 4. SMART Web Messaging is a simple, native application programming interface (API) for health apps embedded within the user's workflow. SMART Web Messaging enables tight user interface integration between electronic health records and embedded SMART apps via HTML 5 Web Messaging. SMART Web Messaging allows applications to push unsigned orders, note snippets, risk scores or user suggestions directly to the clinician's electronic health record session.
